The National Playing Card Museum is dedicated to the history of the playing card. Since the early 19th century cards are made in Turnhout and in the 20th century the city became the sole manufacturer of playing cards in the Low Countries. Besides the history, it also shows the production of playing cards over time. There are old machines that illustrate the entire manufacturing process. Among others there is a unique steam engine, that still operates.
