Dunsink Observatory opened its doors in the 1785 to enable scientists to do their scientific research. The greatest mathematician and scientist William Rowan Hamilton, lived and worked here. Dunsinkk observatory is located on a hill just west of Finglas, near Dunsink Lane. From time to time Dunsink Observatory holds a special evening for parents and children who want to learn more about astronomy and space. Dunsink Observatory was converted into a museum in 2005. This is one of the oldest buildings in Ireland. Weather permitting, visitors can view celestial objects through the historic Grubb Telescope. They can also attend audio-visual presentations and lectures.
