The Custom House in Dublin is located on the Northern banks of River Liffey. It is regarded as one of the jewels in the city's architectural crown.Several sculptures found in the building were sculpted by the famous Irish sculptor, Edward Smyth. Inside the house you will find features such as pavilions, arcades and columns. There is also a dome with a 16-foot statue of Commerce on top. At first, the Custom House was the headquarters of the Commissioners of Custom and Excise. This changed later on after the building was burnt to the ground on 25 May, 1921 during the Irish War of Independence.
